Ruby Red Hot stone

July is warm. I mean really warm. So is July's birthstone, the ruby.

Usually known for it's pink to blood-red color, the ruby is considered one of the 4 precious gemstones, the perfect stone for royalty. The name comes from latin Ruber - no, it doesn't mean rubber, it just means red.

The most beautiful rubies are found in Myanmar (Burma) which is kind of a problem, cause that country is not famous for its democracy or civil rights, and importing them was banned.

Still, the ruby is part of the precious gemstones club (along with diamonds, sapphires and emeralds) and it is pretty hard, a 9 on Mohs scale (the diamond is a 10 which is the maximum on the scale).

Below is one of the wave rings in 18K rose gold and rubies. Who said that pink and rose didn't look good together? It's called a new version of the color blocking (and it looks great in the summer as well)
